Why Boot Camp Training
Fitness boot camps, appeal to a large range of people because just about anyone can do the exercises with all fitness levels participating. And they escape the women-only stigma of aerobics and the men-only stigma of weight lifting. Influenced by traditional military boot camps, these types of fitness programs are so popular because they work- when they’re done right-and because of their social element. Boot camp participants enjoy the camaraderie of exercising in a group. And much like peer pressure keeps soldiers moving in military boot camp, peer encouragement – and developing friendships – keep people moving in fitness boot camp. Plus, more experienced participants often help newcomers, which provide an element of support that the trainer alone cannot give.
Our boot camp program encourages friends and families ages 15 and above male and female, and is held year round in the open outdoors in local parks in the Sacramento and Elk Grove area. By exercising outdoors in the open air and sunlight you receive two more added benefits to improve overall health and wellness.
Like plants, human beings also need sunlight for optimal health. Contrary to what many people believe that exposure to sunlight is harmful, it is actually an overexposure to direct sunlight that should be avoided. Many of sunlight’s benefits are connected to vitamin D. Our bodies must have the UVB radiation found in sunlight to make this essential, health-promoting vitamin. In fact, in moderation, sunlight can…
- Ease tension
- Increase immunity
- Prevent disease
- Improve sleep
- Increase mental performance
- Heighten metabolism
- Relieve arthritic pains
- And boast energy levels improving health
Air
Health is truly improved by breathing “fresh” air paying big dividends in your health bank account. Generally speaking, the quality of air is far superior to the air found circulating in your home or in musty gyms. In fact, one study suggests that indoor air can be up to five times more polluted than outdoor air – which is bad news when you consider the average American spends 90 percent of their time indoors. Indeed, this combination of pollution exposure and duration of exposure makes indoor air quality a serious health issue. Amazing Health Facts
Exercise
Bodyweight exercises, such as pushups and sit-ups, form the core of our boot camp programs and in fact there are two main aspects that keep clients coming back to boot camp programs time after time: these programs are effective and fun. Let’s tackle the effectiveness part first. As you know, the key to weight loss, which is what the majority of boot campers are looking for, is burning calories. Boot camps cram a lot of exercise and calorie-burning into a short time. Clients don’t have to fool around with working out for 90 minutes to two hours every day. Forty-five minutes, boot-camp-style, is enough. Plus, participants benefit from higher metabolism for the rest of the day, which means they burn more calories for longer. And unlike many Nautilus and weight lifting programs that isolate only a few muscles, boot camp movements – such as pushups, pull-ups, jumping jacks and running – recruit many muscles in every exercise. So, instead of doing 3 sets on every machine in the gym, boot camp participants get the job done much more efficiently. Besides their effectiveness, boot camps appeal to people because of the fun and social factors.
With a boot camp, participants get personal motivation from their trainer that is fresh and new every session. Boot camp trainers can also correct exercise form and postures for clients to keep them safe and get the most from the exercises. A video can’t do that.
Testimonial
“I am happy to report that I joined the Bottom Up Boot Camp class at the Wackford Aquatic Community Park in Elk Grove July 1, 2010. I didn’t know what to expect, I just know I was bored with my regular gym routine.
Thanks to Karen I have finished every workout feeling stronger and more confident. She has inspired and challenged me to push myself beyond what I thought was my limit. For the first time in my life, I look forward to working out.”
